Sberbank: Russian economy to lose 6 tln rbl from cybercrime by 2022
MOSCOW, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy may lose 6 trillion rubles by the beginning of 2022 from cybercrime, Sberbank Deputy Chairman Stanislav Kuznetsov said on Wednesday at a news conference.
“As to the outlook, the losses, we’ve always talked not of a loss from a cybercrime, but about losses of the economy, either of Russia or the global economy, from the committed cyberthreats or crime,” Kuznetsov said.
“We presume that losses of the Russian economy may now reach 6 trillion rubles by the end of this year–by the beginning of 2022,” he said.
A ransomware virus can block supplies of oil or gas, and the economy’s losses “will be enormous”, Kuznetsov said.
